I had the 4S I decided to go with the new Galaxy S3 I went on Sunday afternoon to change over by Tuesday the Galaxy had already frozen I called IT they couldn”t help me get it fixed even after going threw all the steps so I went into the store they couldnt get it fixed either so they replaced it I left there and on thursday night my battery died I put galaxy on the charger it charged up still wouldnt come back on the next morning it came on and just stayed on the home screen not responding to anything I took it back into the store they couldnt fix it so thats when I went back to my apple 4s I have never had any issues with the apple and I will never go back to the galaxy phone again and I love Samsung products as well
Just saying…I recently switched from my iPhone 3GS to my brand new Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket.
NO REGRETS. Best change ever. Outperforms my sister’s 16GB iPhone 4S with no hassle, the colors look much more vibrant and nicer, and the sound is at a stalemate. I have more options with my SGS2 to change it up and do whatever I want while my sister can only change her wallpaper. Nothing more then that.

Big disappointment! would have been better not to release nothing and wait to release something really good that matches the customers expectations.. at least with a bigger screen.. You lost a customer now who waited to buy iPhone5.. And now its sure the one who rocks the market is SAMSUNG!!

Well done, Soma. I felt the same as you. Waiting for so many f##king months… and actually ‘struggling’, like you mentioned. Anticipated June. Then they released iphone4 in WHITE. Wtf?! Then now, finally, finally, finally they released the new phone and it’s this stupid 4 ASS. What a huge disappointment. They just want to sell this and then release iphone 5 a few months later. apple is so fucked.

I just want to let you know, Samsung has let me down year after year with the quality of their phones. EVERY single Samsung phone I have had has had a problem. Most recent being the Samsung Rogue, which I needed to replace 6 times, with a problem never resolved. I recommend you stay away from the Samsung Galaxy and invest in another phone. I choose the iPhone due to the fact that it is so reliable with its’ functionality that it is hard to beat. You decide.

agree… while I am a little disappointed that they didn’t move the Iphone 4s to 4G speeds, Iphone is still the Cadillac guys..much more user friendly, battery much better, software uncrashable. Remember.. Corvette..Jaguar.. etc..they don’t don’t change them too fast because quality always trumps glitz.
Tom
October 12, 2011 at 6:49 am
uhh… yes they did move it to “4g” speeds, they just didn’t lie to the public like everyone else by falsely calling it 4g because true 4g is nearly the same speed as wifi and at this point doesn’t exist commercially or on a widescale.

I am sorry that you had so much trouble with your Samsung Rouge Andrew. However, I have had a Samsung Captivate and it has been solid. I have had it for over a year. No problems. I even drove over it with my car, and it still works great using a polyurethane case. I have to say that the iphone paved the way for smart phones, but I would not call it the best anymore. The content on the iphone is restrictive and does not support flash. However, it is all about personal preference. Whatever phone you buy, you have 30 days to return it according to cellular carrier return policies.

In my opinion, buying a top-range Android phone is generally not a good idea for software-related reasons. As a software developer, you would have to make sure your SW works with as many configurations as possible, not just the most powerful one (Galaxy in this case), and as a result the owner of the Galaxy is likely to end up buying more HW than their SW is able to take advantage of.
Androids are stronger in cheaper phones, and that’s what potential Android users should direct their attention to I think.
Buying a Galaxy is like buying a top-range Toyota Camry – I would rather go for a Mercedes or a Beemer even though they will be smaller and less powerful for the same price. Does that make sense?

I agree… was expecting a bit more from Apple with this phone especially how we have had to wait longer for it, but I’m DONE with Samsung phones. They are great for the first 12 months but then deteriorate rather quickly.
Well the 4s will be a lot better than the Samsung I have now.

My HTC Incredible is the same way…..after a year or so, the device started getting really dodgy. I am disappointed with the 4s announcement however, I will be purchasing one due to all the problems my Android has caused and is currently causing me.

I have seen so many dodgy iPhones, some which fail to hold charge, but to replace the battery you have to send it to an official repairer. At mega expense. It’s the Apple money generation machine, and many fools fall for the hype. I wonder when they will invent the iNternet

It’s all about customer service. I had problems with my iPhone due to my son playing soccer using my phone as the ball of course. Apple still replaced it free of charge. I broke the glass on my iPad, Apple replaced it again without cost. Think about getting that done from other vendors.

And so let the age old argument begin: apple’s hardware is lower spec than competing manufactures and costs more therefore apple sucks, i will buy [insert alternative] instead.
To me, computers are not just about computing hardware the same way cars are not JUST about 1/4 mile times or engine horsepower-you’re leaving out critical aspects of the experience… How does the car handle around turns? How comfortable of a ride is it? What kind of driving experience does it give you? Im speaking metaphorically but the point is that sometimes things arent always just about SPEED AND POWER sometimes it can be a little slower but provide much more satisfaction. That to me is what buying an apple product is about. You can agree or disagree but my choice will remain the same.

Like most I was disappointed with the 4S release. I have been living with an almost 3 year old 3g watching and waiting for the iphone 5. I have been follow this site and it has been great.
After the release I started thinking about the Samsung, I have owned several Samsungs before the 3g and they were awesome phones. Keep in mind this is 2008/9. However, after seeing the stats listed next to each other above it seems like the 4S is pretty competitive. The Samsung has a slightly faster processor and larger screen but the 4S has better battery, better screen resolution and a better camera. I understand everyone is frustrated there isn’t more from apple especially after the extra wait, but are the other phones that much better for me to ditch my Iphone and learn a new OS. It does not seem so from the list above. Any positive input would be appreciated.

I also was initially disappointed due to all the hype and I have scoured the internet reading reviews, comparisons, and have seriously considered getting an android phone. Then I realized that after owning several cells for over 10 yrs my Apple 3GS has lasted me the longest. I’ve dropped it so many times on hard surfaces, nothing happened just a few nicks and scratches. A case and screen protector has kept it in good shape for 2 years. This is the longest I’ve had any cell phone. Apple is for people with discriminate tastes who see beyond the hype of 4g and bigger screens. I’m going to give my phone to my mom and get the new 4s.

You’re an idiot. Do you not do any research at all? I believe it was Norton or McAfee that has the stats of which OS gets the most viruses. Of course, Android OS gets affected more than iOS. Actually, there has been 0% data shown that any iOS device has had a virus. Virtually showing you would literally have to TRY to put a virus on your own iPhone. Apple always stands for quality. When was the last time you needed a dual core 1.2 GHz processor on your phone? I’m sure you don’t have 5+ processes running at once all the time, at full graphics and speed. The battery might as well be garbage after the use it has with that giant processor and RAM. iPhones are balanced. Leave it that way. And if you’re going to give me the “underclock the processor” argument, might I ask why would you buy a phone with that much power in the first place? God people do a little research before you put yourself into a silly contract.
just the facts ma’am
October 7, 2011 at 4:34 pm
It is more likely that an Android phone will be exposed to malicious software than a non-jailbroken iPhone over its lifetime, because the Android market is not as controlled and the user can download applications whenever he/she pleases. If you were trying to attack a fully patched Android phone and a fully patched iPhone, then the iPhone is probably the softer target, especially if you can get the user to navigate to a malicious page using Safari.

wow, apple what can i start with….
How bad are you guys getting, if any of you guys haven’t realised is all you guys are good at is making handheld things, laptops you fail at making, so do your other computers now you’re failing at making decent phones and putting the price up at least $400-$600 more, were is the fun in that.
To all of the people that might read this comment apple obviously lost their way all i can say now is screw them, they had there chance for making handhelds and they obviously blew it, so just stick to samsung’s, they WERE bad before but seems like there making a push for the top and they are sure as hell achieving it.

I have to agree with you Steve and if you notice most of them don’t even use their name. I don’t work for Apple but am proud to say I have owned every Iphone that has come out. If I did have any problems they were taken care of quickly by Apple even replacing a faulty Iphone4 (I don’t have quick care either). Now that being I have not seen anything on the 4S that will make me go buy it unless my 4 quits working.

It looks like Apple has jumped the shark. New & improved Nano and iPod Touch? Certainly not worth upgrading to. If I was buying one now, They are nice (little) improvements. I bought mine (Touch 4g 64) last year though. Had I been interested in a white one (I’m not, prefer black) I would be more pissed than anything. As for the iPhone 4s, it certainly is an improvement over the 4, and it has a lot of innovative features, but I wouldn’t call it #1 anymore. Now Apple will be Playing catch-up, while at the same time, giving the competition at least a year to beat the crap out of them. Rim should be sending them a thank you card because the iPhone 4s just might be “the phone that saves Blackberry”. Yes I have (and love) a MacBook, and iPod Touch. I also have a BB Torch. I was planning on upgrading to an iPhone (5), but I don’t see the point in giving up a perfectly good Blackberry for a 4s. Especially when there is so many other good (even better?) choices out there now, and coming soon. I suspect I am not alone in my thinking.

As disappointed as I am. We can’t blame Apple for this. The media and bloggers were saying what they thought it was going to be. Apple already knew what they were doing, everybody else was making assumptions. Those speculating the iPhone 5 are not taking any responsibility for their mistakes but tries to blame Apple for what they having been planning to do for a while. With the 3G came the 3GS. It would better understand that with a 4 would come a 4s. With the upgrades it seems like a fair bet that the overall iPhone 4s is a very good phone. come media and bloggers take responsibility for your misinformation and don’t blame Apple because you got it totally wrong!!!

i really love to see all apple haters talking bad about the new iPhone 4S. I think the big deal about the new iPhone is the name, and then i guess some of you were expecting a phone with a hologram projector or maybe a smartphone that would be able to cook for you too, sorry to tell this but we are years behind to see something like that. But at the end, lots of people who switched to androids from iphones, after a couple of months wants to switch back so bad, iphone was the pioneer and ipad as well, and also iphone holds the higuest costumer satisfaction awards. So haters, suck on that….

Love to see all these comments .. Both pos & neg. Current using a blackberry Storm 2 and my Verizon contract is up in Nov and I’ve been looking to get a new Apple iPhone knowing a new model would be out by then. My son got one of the first droids and hates the fact that google has forced updates on him that are beyond his version .. He had no choice .. Couldn’t refuse the update .. Screwed up the performance … Turned me off on android because of that.
I am not a ‘gamer’ and wouldn’t notice any processor difference from the 4s to the Samsung … I think either would be lightening faster than my blackberry…and that’s where either apple or droid are better than blackberry .. Surfing. .. And now with both catching up to blackberry’s former dominance in email … Either would work for me.
My choice will be the 4s … I see more flexibility, compatibly with my I-pad and my daughter and son-in-law swear by their iPhone 4s. In fact I just may buy one for my wife too …
So instead of talking about why one company is better using tech stuff … Just get the one that is better for you …
Now . … When the 4s is released . If it has problems .. Those I do want to here about on this forum.
Happy reading.

I’m in the same boat as most of you, bummed out about Apple latest offering. I have been a BlackBerry user for quite a few years now because I work of a fortune 500 Corp (I hate it), and was locked in because our servicer would only support BlackBerry’s. At the first of the year, we gained iPhone & Droid capabilities. Was ready to go out and get my iPhone 4, but why would I do that when the iPhone 5 was coming out in the May – June timeframe. Then it was bumped to July, Sept, Oct. I should have bought at the first of the year, that way when the real iPhone 5 comes out next year (this is how the rumor mill starts), I would be eligible for a new phone at that time. What to do!!!! Go to ebay and buy an iPhone 4 so I don’t get locked in for 2 years with the iPhone 4 ½, and be ready to pull the trigger on the iPhone 5 if it ever comes out!!!!!! Also looking at the Droid, but I don’t know.

Steve you make an interesting point. I’ve been an iPhone user since the 3GS, and yes I love it. There was never an iPhone 5 to begin with. People or the so called experts for some reason has everyone believing other wise. They always have to know everything 1st. Well to some degree, they’re the ones looking stupid. By the way, this is the 5th generation iPhone, just not the name they were calling it. Care to argue? iOS 5 tells the whole story…. Therefore, end of story

I got the iPhone 3gs when it was new and LOVED it and I am always talking IOS up over Android. However I hated the iPhone 4 design and had no interest in getting it, my contract ended in June and I have been waiting ever since for the iPhone 5. Last week I caved and bought the Galaxy SII and have been very suprised how much I like Android. Both are great systems but I love the customization on Android vs. iPhone. was so convinced I would get the new iPhone just because I liked the old one so much. If I didn’t like the SII I was going to return it for the new iPhone. Now I will buy based on what features I need rather than OS, because both OS are great.
They both have voice recognition, which is iPhones new big feature, In the end though customization of Android is why I’m keeping the SII.
Thank You

Finally! I am in the exact same boat as you, except my contract ended yesterday. Been debating back and forth for a month on which phone to get and ended up pre-ordering the 4s today…but it seems I may have made a mistake. And I got the feeling that I did as soon as I got home. Yeah, I’m really glad I didn’t wait for the iPhone “5″. I was using a crappy old school Nokia after I gave my 3GS to my girlfriend hoping to get the iPhone 5 sooner than later.
So instead I got the Galaxy S2. It’s impressive, but still lacks good apps. That’s all I can say about that

The Droid and HTC smartphones put up a good fight with features such as their digital camera, video recording capabilities and the amount of talk time available. But the clear winner in the smartphone battle is the Apple iPhone 4S. This cellular device offers excellent design features such as the display’s screen resolution and its lightweight frame. The iPhone 4S features FaceTime video chat capabilities, an adequate battery life, exceptional memory and an App store with 150,000 of choices.

I think the way you have highlighted the advantage of Samsung Gallaxy II over the iphone is rather arbitrary and for most the the characteristics you don’t even have the exact information about iPhone 4s.
How do you determine what is the best display technology??? Why should Samsung Gallaxy have an advantage in dimensions? The iPhone is still the shortest in length, which is a feature that some users may appreciate more than having options for dimensions, still longer than the iPhone.
As a whole this comparison with green highlights isn’t professional and some differences may not be even observable for a customer.

I have to say that I am not a big apple fan due to the restrictions they put on their products, but I must say that they make one awesome product. As much as I hate to admit it I think apple is hiding something from us still, they won’t stay last for very long in the phone race. The iPhone 5 is going to blow everyone away with features, battery life, etc… now all we have to do is wait

For all the people saying samsung is bad or whatever. I to had the ones and I had to go through a lot of crap before. I stopped using samsung until got given one for my bday this year. I tell you that I have no single complaints whatsoever with it. Why? Cause it doesn’t have iTunes and it does have flash. Yea work arounds? WTF I spend 800 bucks to work around the iPhone just to get what I want. Adobe flash and iTunes? Apple stop trying to control me I hate that. Another thing is 199 in us and aus sells it for 800? 4 times the price what the hell??? You guys think too highly of yourselves. Look around you’ll be overtaken soon. Without steve jobs you guys are nothing

Last year I picked a droid x only because its screen was so much bigger than the iphone 4. I’m still craving a bigger so the HTC Titan with 4.7″ is interesting. What I don’t get is why the iPhone screen is still 3.5″…so small.

hmm i have an android phone. and to be honest, after some time, i would really get an iphone again (i used to have 3gs before) if only those apple phones were not so damn expensive…it’s not about numbers people
galaxy sII is a pile of specifications, but i’ve experienced both sII and iphone 4…the iphone 4 feels much more faster, smoother and easier to use. it’s not about ghz’s and gb’s and mpx’s…

I have been using a motorola cliq that runs android 1.2 for over a year and a half on T-Horrible. Let me tell you that my wife and I are forever dealing with frozen phones, “force close” apps, and a laudry list of BS with these phones. I know that udates and upgrades fix issues like this but, I am still VERY leary about going with another android device. I will be swicthing to Sprint soon as their coverage in my area rules and you just can’t beat their price. I have researched the GS2 epic 4G touch and it looks awesome! I have researchedd the iphone 4S as well and although the updates weren’t that huge (iwas waiting for the iphone 5 honestly) something about it says to buy it. I know a lot of people that use the iphone 4 and they love it, I know a lot of people with androids (evo 4g) and 1 of them loves it. The debate gets really heated on these sites and I see a lot of people saying abdroid and I have to admit again “the GS2 epic 4g touch looks GREAT” and I have never owner or used an iphone but, I have to ask, if android is so great why is everyone buying iphone 4s? I mean they sold out of preorders in like 1 day! And I think we all know that a HUGE number of those ordering are current andoid users.
Please help!, I am just totally confused on this. I just want a phone that works!
